Joining millions of people and business organizations around the world in raising awareness against the worldwide global warming issue, Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta turned off non-essential lights and other electrical appliances in front & back of the house, dimmed the lights in all public areas, restaurants, and the hotel’s exterior, for one hour between 8:30 – 9:30 PM on Saturday (28/3).
Hotel guests were encouraged to participate by switching off the lights and power devices in their rooms and join in the unique candle lighting process at the hotel lobby, which will naturally illuminate the premises during the hour.
“This year Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta created a Symbolic giant Earth made from waste paper and create homemade coconut oil as candle. Utilizes 60+ (the Earth Hour symbol) and recycle bottle from last year to grow the plants. As part of the Earth Hour campaign we also encourage our guests and employee to participate in donating use books or toys, all the collection will be donated to surrounding community and PAUD (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini) at PKK RW 012, Menteng Dalam, Jakarta,” Nia Agustina, Marketing & Communications Manager Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta said.
After Earth Hour, all the recycled material will be re-used as Hotel decoration in the hotel area. Earth Hour is the largest movement for the planet in human history, record-breaking 187 countries and territories across seven continents and aboard the International Space Station, throughout the world turned off their lights for Earth Hour, making it the largest climate action in history.
“We appreciate all our guest’s and employees’ support by showing care about this important issue,” she added.
