A new ranking by Skytrax has revealed the world’s cleanest airports, with a remarkable nine out of the top 10 spots occupied by airports in Asia. The ranking is based on various factors, including the hygiene of seating and restroom facilities.
Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, has claimed the coveted top spot as the world’s cleanest airport. This accolade comes on the heels of Haneda being named the fourth-best airport globally. According to Skytrax, the airport boasts impeccable cleanliness across its flooring, seating areas, public spaces, and washroom facilities.
“Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the standards of airport cleanliness have become much more important to customers,” Skytrax stated on its official website.
Asia’s dominance in the ranking is clear. Beyond Haneda, three other airports in Japan secured positions in the top ten, with Centrair Nagoya in fifth place, Tokyo Narita in sixth, and Kansai in seventh.
Outside of Japan, Asia’s leading airports also made their mark. Seoul Incheon in South Korea took the second spot, while Singapore’s renowned Changi Airport claimed third place.
Doha’s Hamad International Airport in Qatar secured the fourth position, while Hong Kong International Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport occupied the eighth and ninth spots, respectively.
Zurich Airport in Switzerland was the only non-Asian airport to make the top 10 cleanest airports list.
