WATG & Wimberly Interiors Extend GHC Asia’s Remit to China

Following a successful first year of PR partnership, the world’s leading hospitality and destination design firm, WATG, has retained hospitality and lifestyle specialist GHC Asia for a second term as its communications representative for Asia Pacific, and extended the remit to include Mainland China. WATG and its interior design studio Wimberly Interiors are working on an exciting pipeline of landmark projects and are continuing to expand design talent and resources in the region.

Founded in 1945, WATG is one of the world’s leading multidisciplinary design firms specializing in hospitality, entertainment and gaming, urban and mixed-use, and high-end residential. Independent to this day and with a profound respect for heritage, its five studios – Strategy, Master Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Wimberly Interiors – design spaces that respect, protect and enhance the natural magic of their surroundings while delivering long-term value for clients and communities.

With a long history in Asia, the firm’s work embraces landmark hotels like the Shangri-La Singapore Garden Wing, Bellagio Shanghai, Jinan Hotel Kempinski, Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, and collaborations with lifestyle brands including Aloft, Hard Rock, Indigo, LXR and W, to master-planning entirely new urban and resort destinations such as the Fari Islands Maldives, Yixin Park in Chengdu, Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, and beyond.

“The synergy from GHC Asia’s passion for the travel and hospitality industry was evident from the start of our partnership in 2021. It was a natural progression to extend their remit to celebrate our long history and the firm’s future in Mainland China. With our relationship in the region dating back more than 40 years, we’re proud of our legacy and are excited about the creative projects launching in the months ahead. We are confident that GHC Asia’s 20-years’ experience in China will complement our growth in this important market and help to celebrate our exceptional local talent,” said Jennifer Ploszaj, Chief Marketing Officer, WATG.

“WATG are truly legends in all aspects of design. We are very excited to be telling their incredible story and delighted that they have extended our remit to include communications in China,” said Paul Hicks, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GHC Asia.

As of 2022, WATG’s global yet local team – representing more than 45 nationalities – has designed and delivered over 500 built projects in 170 countries and territories.
