Nautical-themed beachfront resort Meliá Koh Samui has launched a long stay package that pays homage to the need to isolate as Covid-19 continues to ravage the globe.
Overlooking secluded Choeng Mon Beach on the north-eastern tip of Koh Samui island in the Gulf of Thailand, the resort’s ‘Isolation Indulgence’ getaway comprises a minimum 15 nights in a Deluxe Room, Premium Pool Access Room or Boat Suite.
With 50 percent off double occupancy room rates for direct bookings and stays from now until October 31 this year, the package is priced at THB29,999 (USD955) nett for a Deluxe Room, THB38,999 (USD1241) nett for a Premium Pool Access Room and THB47,999 (USD1528) nett for a Boat Suite for 15 nights.
As Thailand battles a new outbreak of Covid-19, Meliá Koh Samui’s general manager Ernesto Osuna said Isolation Indulgence recognized “the preference for guests to stay longer in one place rather than move about and to socially distance from other guests and the outside world”.
Isolation Indulgence offers a 30 percent discount on food and beverage, a 30 per cent discount on YHI Spa services, complimentary morning yoga sessions, two complimentary pieces of laundry daily, four complimentary bottles of water daily, and complimentary in-room stationary.
A host of optional add-ons for guests to customize their stay include:
- In-room breakfast for THB200 (USD6.36) per person per day
- Preset two-course lunch for THB400 (USD12.72) per person per day
- Preset two-course dinner for THB500 (USD15.90) per person per day
The resort’s Deluxe Rooms feature a standalone bathtub on a private balcony. Premium Pool Access Rooms have private terraces that segue to a 700m-long lagoon pool that meanders through the resort’s lush grounds like a river. The elegant two-story Boat Suites are made from refurbished teak wood merchant vessels that are more than 100 years old.
Meliá Koh Samui has a raft of stringent health, safety and hygiene measures in place to protect guests, staff and the community from Covid-19 as part of a global program called ‘Stay Safe With Meliá’, developed in collaboration with certification, inspection and testing company Bureau Veritas.
The “360 degree” program entails a strict cleaning and disinfection plan endorsed by supplier Diversey and uses technological solutions to minimize physical contact between guests and staff. The program also has occupational health measures to identify people at risk and management of possible cases of infection, post-Covid-19 standards to ensure the safety of food and beverage, wellness, entertainment and in-room experiences and operational guides targeting staff procedures, training and maintenance of facilities.
In addition to Bureau Veritas auditing Meliá Hotels International’s management of the preventative measures to combat Covid-19, Meliá Koh Samui has also appointed a person responsible for the emotional wellbeing of guests and to verify compliance with the program.
Meliá Koh Samui has also obtained ‘Amazing Thailand Safety and Health: SHA’ certification, developed by Thailand’s Ministry for Tourism in collaboration with public and private sector partners to mitigate the threat of COVID-19 and elevate the country’s tourism industry standards. Under the certification, Meliá Koh Samui must follow strict Covid-19 control guidelines by Thailand’s Department of Disease Control and Ministry of Public Health regarding sanitation and social distancing.
