This momentous season at the legendary ‘Grande Dame’ on Cap d’Antibes is accompanied by one Michelin star for Louroc Restaurant, the sublime Villa Sainte-Anne’s inaugural opening, a new book recounting the hotel’s 150 years of history and glamour, a sensuous new fragrance by Maison Christian Dior, an exhibit of talented artist Manolo Valdes’ sculpture works, and more.
Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, part of the Oetker Collection portfolio of Masterpiece Hotels announces its reopening for June 4th, 2021. The legendary property, which in 2020 celebrated its 150th anniversary, prepares to welcome travelers for a season marked by gastronomic excellence, opulent new private accommodations, illustrious collaborations and all of the inspiration that has drawn a star-studded clientele to the hotel since 1870.
New on the Cap
This 151st season on Cap d’Antibes preserves the magic for which the hotel is known, just as it presents exciting new offers for the contemporary traveller. Less than a year after opening, Louroc Restaurant received the distinguished honour of one Michelin star in January 2021.
Consultant Chef Eric Frechon, Executive Chef Arnaud Poette, Chef Sebastien Broda, Pastry Chef Lilian Bonnefoi and their teams, have created a masterful melding of two regional culinary traditions — that of the Mediterranean and Provence — incorporating only the very finest ingredients sourced locally.
This summer also marks the inaugural season for the sumptuous Villa Sainte-Anne, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc’s largest private villa. The 337 square metre home, originally built by founding hotelier Antoine Sella, has received a complete restoration of its expansive interiors, 2100 square metres of private Tuscan gardens and swimming pool. The renovations were led by the renowned talents of architect Luc Svetchine and interior designer Countess Bergit Gräfin Douglas.
The season’s closing was an opportunity to attend to the hotel’s Napoleon III main building with an extensive renovation of the roof and the iconic façade. Additionally, a stunning new embellishment of the famous Grande Allée enhances the peaceful stroll toward the sea.
Monumental collaborations
Wanderlust has never reached such heights among the world’s discerning travelers and this year, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc offers many ways to accentuate the experience of a Riviera escape. Spring 2021 has seen the release of the beautiful new book ‘Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc: A Timeless Legend on the French Riviera’ by historian Alexandra Campbell, published by Flammarion.
In 310 pages, the coffee table book recounts the hotel’s 150-year history through exceptionally researched prose and hundreds of documents and photos published for the very first time.
For a fragrance like no other, Dior Perfumer-Creator François Demachy has created a tribute to the ‘Grande Dame’ in Eden-Roc by Maison Christian Dior.
Blending notes of saltwater, aromatic herbs, citrus blossoms and Maritime pine, Eden Roc is the essence of two icons of French art de vivre.
Nine monumental sculptures by contemporary artist Manolo Valdés will punctuate the hotel gardens this summer for an inspiring encounter with his larger-than-life works.
The artist’s Infanta Margarita, Head with Butterflies and Regina II, and others, will be on exhibit in carefully chosen locations around the property to enhance the Mediterranean beauty and create a unique dialog between nature and art.
Experiences to cherish
Sunseekers have descended upon Hotel du Cap for a century and a half in search of serenity, impeccable service and memorable moments by the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. This season promises all of that and more. The hotel’s Aquariva Super boat is available for private trips and tours, 33 private cabanas can be reserved for uninterrupted days overlooking the sea and the expert therapists at Spa Eden-Roc by La Prairie help deepen a sense of wellbeing with their full-body massages offered in the dedicated cabana or garden gazebo, where the warm sea breeze lulls with its gentle embrace.
Simply setting foot on the grounds of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, with its magnificent gardens dotted by stunningly tall and fragrant pines, is an invitation to enter a totally tranquil state of being this summer.
