Marriott International Hotels and Resorts in Indonesia Ready to Held Virtual Run to Give 2020

After the success of its event in 2019, and with a sizeable number of runners taking part, Marriott’s portfolio of hotels and resorts in Indonesia is announcing a unique approach to a popular event and encourages everyone to take part in a ‘Virtual Run to Give 2020′.

‘Run to Give’ has become an integral part of the company’s tradition in cultivating a people-first environment that promotes associate well-being and drives its people to care for the communities where they do business. This month-long fundraiser will happen from October 1st to 31st, 2020.

Fifty-five (55) hotels from Marriott International hotels and resorts in Indonesia will come together to raise money for an Indonesia-wide associates relief fund, which will be dedicated to support Marriott Associates who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides the General Managers and other hotels’ associates, the general public can also join the run and support this great cause. What makes it even more special is, this event will be Marriott Indonesia’s first ever virtual charity run, in line with the ‘new normal’, we are faced with and adhering to safe-distancing measures, to safeguard the wellbeing of our guests, associates and participants

Marie Browne, General Manager of Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort and Chairwoman for this charity event said, “Since the time we started Run to Give in 2014, we have received an amazing response each year not only from the Marriott family but also from the general public. This year’s focus is near and dear to my heart; the funds raised will give back to our associates. The hospitality industry has been hit hard by the pandemic across the world and here in Indonesia, with our associates significantly impacted by the downturn in business. With so many big races cancelled across the country due to coronavirus, I believe virtual races like the one we’re creating is a big part of the future of running. It’s a fun, safe way for runners and walkers all over Indonesia and the world to connect. We look forward to seeing more participation in order to make this year’s Virtual Run for Charity an even bigger success than previous years”.

‘Virtual Run To Give 2020’ is not a race, but rather a national movement of runners focused on a goal that is collective, not individual. Runners everywhere are encouraged to run solo or in a team between October 1st to October 31st and are invited to participate in whatever way it is safe for them to do so: running in their neighbourhood, local park, yard, or even in the living room, whilst continuing to practice social distancing.

“The yearly charity run is a main activity of our company’s TakeCare programme that empowers associates to live our Marriott’s philosophy. For many of us, running or a marathon challenge has provided a much-needed escape in a time of great uncertainty. The question we’ve been asking ourselves on our daily runs is how we can use the power of our
sport to support those in our community who needs help during this pandemic. Through the programme, we encourage our associates to take care of their physical well-being, while providing them with the chance to be part of a community that appreciates, respects, shares kindness and contributes to society,” said Titus Rosier, General Manager of Westin Ubud as one of the ‘Virtual Run To Give 2020’ participants and fundraiser.

This event has a registration fee of IDR200,000 or AU$20 and as part of the registration, participants will receive an E-Certificate.

Last year, ‘Run to Give’ took place across the Asia Pacific, supporting non-profit partners, selected local charities across the Asia Pacific as well as contributed towards Marriott disaster relief efforts. With a growing footprint underpinned by the strength of its associates, Marriott International aims to continue creating a lasting positive impact on the local communities it serves, guided by its social impact and sustainability platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
