Marriott International Named as a Kincentric Best Employer in Asia Pacific

Marriott International has been named as a 2019 Kincentric Best Employer in Asia Pacific for the sixth year running, as part of Kincentric’s global Best Employers program, formerly a part of Aon. This recognition makes Marriott International the only company to receive this recognition consecutively since the inception of the program.

In addition to achieving regional Best Employer status, Marriott International has also been recognized as a Best Employer in three new markets – New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. In total, sixteen eligible markets received the honor across Asia Pacific: Australia, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

With 20 years of experience in Best Employer research across the world, backed by more than 50 years of experience in employee research and a robust global database, the Best Employers program compares organizations to identify those that strive to continuously spark change, inspire their people and accelerate business success.

“We are tremendously proud to be recognized as a Kincentric Best Employer in Asia Pacific for more than half a decade and counting. It is a testament to our founding principle of putting people first,” said Craig S. Smith, Group President, Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “We built our 92-year old business on taking care of our associates and it will continue to be the best investment we make.”

Today, there are approximately 150,000 associates who wear a Marriott name badge in Asia Pacific across more than 760 properties in 23 countries & territories. Asia Pacific is the company’s fastest growing region and by the end of 2020, an estimated 17,000 new jobs are expected to be created.

“Through TakeCare, we promote opportunity, community and purpose for all,” said Regan Taikitsadaporn, Chief Human Resources Officer, Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “We foster an inclusive environment that inspires our people to grow with us, both personally and professionally. We want them to find purpose in their work that not only contributes to the business, but also leaves a lasting and positive impact on the world through our collective social impact and sustainability goals.”

Launched in 2010, Marriott’s award-winning TakeCare program provides a global focus on helping associates live their best life in areas beyond physical wellbeing, including but not limited to mental and emotional health, career development, financial planning, social impact and sustainability, and much more. This year, Marriott International rolled out TakeCare Level30, a custom app-based challenge designed to build good behaviors in daily routines. The activities within the app are tied to personal wellbeing, connecting with others, and caring for the environment, providing an engaging gamified experience for guests and associates to earn points and develop positive habits in 30 days.

To achieve recognition through the Kincentric Best Employers certification, Marriott International was assessed on four measures:

  • Employee Engagement: Employees speak positively about their employer, intend to stay and are motivated to exert extra effort at work.
  • Organizational Agility: Employees see that the organization is highly adaptive, innovative, inclusive and responsive to the changing needs of its customers.
  • Engaging Leadership: Leaders are deeply connected with employees to drive engagement, communicate a clear vision and exert strong personal values.
  • Talent Focus: Employees see that the organization is focusing on attracting and retaining great talent and creating an environment where people can thrive.
