Marriott Hotels Inspires New Perspectives with The Marriott TED Fellows Salon in Singapore

Marriott Hotels global partnership with TED continues for its third year with its Asia Pacific edition of the Marriott TED Fellows Salon taking place at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel on 29 October. The Singapore event featured two international TED fellows who shared their stories on the topic of ‘Creativity and Thinking Outside the Box’. It was part of a global tour of Marriott TED Fellows Salons in 2019 with highlight events in Cape Town, Costa Rica, Rotterdam and San Francisco.

“Now in the third year running, the partnership between Marriott Hotels and TED has consistently provided a platform for exchanging innovative and insightful ideas,” said Winkie Wong, Senior Director, Brand & Marketing, Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “Creativity is not meant to be in a box, and guests uncovered new possibilities through this event as they listened to the TED fellows’ inspiring stories.”

The TED Fellows included Andrew Pelling, award-winning scientist, professor and entrepreneur who has built a career on unapologetic curiosity, creativity and serendipity. Meanwhile, Hiromi Ozaki, an artist creating music, film and multimedia installations discussed the social and ethical implications of emerging technologies. The interactive, augmented reality artworks by local tech artist and previous TEDx Singapore speaker Eugene Soh was also on display at the after party.

The thought-provoking Singapore event drew a crowd of over 200 Marriott Bonvoy members, local creative entrepreneurs, VIPs, MBA students and media. Marriott Bonvoy members were also invited to bid on 10 exclusive packages that provided admission for two people to the invite-only Marriott Hotels TED Fellows Salon and poolside after party.

For the first time this year, Marriott Bonvoy members bid on the sold-out Marriott Hotels and TED ‘Art of Storytelling’ masterclass held at TED headquarters in New York City. Taking place earlier this month, twenty members and media participated in a full-day interactive experience, learning how to craft their own TED Talk. The workshop was taught by Briar Goldberg, TED’s Director of Speaker Coaching, and gave participants access to the proprietary training programming that TED’s most brilliant minds complete.

Marriott Hotels invites guests to further delve into their creative minds through the topic of this year’s TED Salon in Singapore, which is closely in line with Marriott Hotel’s new campaign, ‘Let Your Mind Travel’. The newly launched campaign highlights the brand’s commitment to providing an environment in which guests can be inspired, stimulated and in the best frame of mind to reach their full potential.
