Lampung Krakatau Festival 2019 has officially launched at the Sapta Pesona Building, Ministry of Tourism, on Wednesday (31/7). The event that included in the Ministry of Tourism’s Top 100 Calendar Of Event (CoE) will be held on August 23-25, 2019.
Many things will be highlighted in the upcoming 2019 Lampung Krakatau Festival, from tourism to culture, that all get enough portion.
“Lampung Krakatau Festival 2019 in addition for promoting Mount Krakatau as well as traditional cloth, Tapis Lampung,” said Deputy Governor of Lampung, Chusnunia Chalim in his speech.
Interestingly, this event will feature a fashion show from various designers at the Cultural Carnival and Tapis Lampung.
“There is a diverse parade of Tapis Lampung from each district and city that will be shown their creations. There are also clothes made from Tapis Lampung,” said Chusnunia.
Chusnusia also in his speech explained the active role of Lampung in supporting Indonesian tourism by making a significant contribution to the number of foreign tourists’ visits and the significant movement of domestic tourists.
“In 2018, there were 274,742 foreign tourists visiting Lampung and domestic tourists (13,833,207),” she explained.

Minister Expert in Management of Calendar Of Event (CoE) Esthy Reko Astuti said that the Lampung Krakatau Festival is also a momentum to introduce more Mount Krakatau as an icon of tourism.
“Every event as that it is a local content can be raised, and creativity is implemented in the event,” she said.
Esthy also added that the event must have communication value and must utilize the worldwide-brand of Krakatau to attract foreign tourists.
“Krakatao is already global, the brand has been extraordinary. Hopefully it can attract foreign tourists as well,” she hoped.
The Lampung Krakatau Festival 2019 will feature four events starting with the ‘Enchantment of Shining Sai Earth Ruwa Jurai’. The event will be the opening ceremony of the Lampung Krakatau Festival which centered in Saburai Field, Bandar Lampung, on August 23, 2019. The opening of the event will be enlivened by art, drama and dance. Then, there are also performances of traditional arts and modern creations, as well as performances by music groups.
After the opening of the event, the agenda of the ‘Krakatau Expo’ followed by culinary competitions and creative economic product bazaars / exhibitions in Saburai Field, August 23-25 2019. There will also the Krakatau Trip ‘on August 24, 2019, sail and watch the metamorphosis of Gunung Anak Krakatau, commemorating the eruption of Mount Krakatau on August 26, 1883.
“The eruption (Mount Krakatau) that shook the world has made Krakatau an icon and attraction for world tourists,” Chusnunia explained.
Furthermore, there will be a ‘Traditional Children’s Game Parade’ in Saburai Field, August 24, 2019. And, the Lampung Cultural and Tapis Lampung, these parade will begin with the Cangget Dance which located in Saburai Square on August 25, 2019.
