The Indonesian women’s volleyball team has bowed out to Thailand, which won the Group A elimination round in four sets and maintained its top position in the competition held at Gelora Bung Karno sports complex on Monday.a
In the first set, the national players trained by Mohamad Ansori launched a fast offensive move against the Thai team, which kept responding to the strategy, with the set finishing 25-19 to Thailand.
Strong smashes in the second set by Aprilia Manganang and Fadilah combined with the Indonesian athletes’ speed helped the host team win 25-20.
Commanded by Sri Utthawong Kitikun, in the third set Thailand was speeding up with a shower of smashes at the Indonesian camp, overwhelming Aprilia and Fadilah and ending the set 25-13.
In the fourth set, Thailand’s speed was too much for Indonesia, with the set ending 25-13 and the match going to Thailand. This is Thailand’s fourth match win, strengthening its top position in the group and bringing it to the quarterfinal stage.
Indonesian volleyball coach Mohamad Ansori said his team had put in maximum effort despite the loss to Thailand.k
“We realize that Thailand’s performance caused confusion among our team. But I’m quite satisfied with today’s outcome. Let’s just watch the next round,” he added.
Mohamad said the Thai team would face a strong team in the quarterfinal round, so he could not predict who would win.
