WorldHotels : New Developments Underway at Iconic Caravelle Saigon

A fresh chapter is in the works at the Heart of Saigon, Vietnam. Caravelle Saigon, a WorldHotels’s affiliate hotel, announced its major renovation of its guestrooms in the first week of August. All 303 rooms in the hotel’s Opera Wing, together with its ballrooms, meeting rooms and function areas, will be refreshed over the coming months. Meanwhile, the Caravelle’s dining outlets and Heritage Wing suites will remain open for guests. The first of the redesigned spaces will debut in the first quarter of 2019.

Modern as it looks, Caravelle Saigon holds decades of history within its walls and is a renowned icon in Ho Chi Minh City. Once home to the Australian Embassy, the New Zealand Embassy, and the Saigon bureaus of NBC, ABC and CBS during the 1960s, the Caravelle was a notable communications hub in the Vietnam war. A 24-storey tower was then built in 1998 to complement the original 10-storey building and to accommodate more guests. The hotel is now undergoing long-awaited renovation works that intend to elevate the historic property to international five-star standards for today’s modern travelers. Widely recognized for an emphasis on comfort and quality, the rooms at Caravelle Saigon will be significantly upgraded and refurbished with expanded bathrooms, and plush interiors.

“The Caravelle has always been a property of distinction, with an unparalleled location and history,” said Michael Robinson, General Manager of Caravelle Saigon. “With this renovation we’ll still retain the hotel’s storied heritage, but we’ll be able to provide a fresh and enhanced experience to our guests and partners in the heart of the city.”

“Caravelle Saigon has never failed to put guest experiences at their forefront and the concept behind the renovation is no different,” said Christina Spykerman, Executive Vice President of WorldHotels, Asia Pacific. “WorldHotels looks forward to an exciting and new offering put forward by the new Caravelle.”
