News about the presence of Katang Lingga Island are increasingly being heard as one of the newest tourist destinations in the Riau Islands (Kepri). The 73-hectare island is indeed being prepared as a premium (high end) tourist destination when it is completed.

This was explained by Wagianto Angkasa Wijaya as Director of PT Angkasa Wijaya Group that the corporation has big plans that are being prepared for Katang Lingga Island.

“Katang Lingga Island has a lot of potential. One of them is that this place is still very beautiful, just imagine the first time we landed here, we were amazed, swimming fish can be seen with the naked eye, and we immediately fell in love with this island,” Wagianto Angkasa Wijaya explained.

From a tourism point of view, Katang Lingga Island will have a big impact on foreign tourist visits, especially from neighboring countries. Moreover, even though it is included in the administrative area of Lingga Regency, geographically it is located very close to Batam City, which is notably the largest entry point for foreign tourists in Riau Islands, especially from Malaysia and Singapore.

“Therefore, Singapore and Malaysia are our target markets here. Moreover, the distance between the two countries and the Riau Islands is very close, only about 30 minutes from the port in the Balerang area using a speed boat,” he explained.

This Katang Lingga Island has obviously attracted the attention of Wagianto Angkasa Wijaya and several of his business partners. It is clear that the various plans that will be realized in Katang Lingga Island within the next 2 years are very ambitious and certainly benefit the Indonesian tourism sector in the future.

Vinsensius Jemadu as Regional Marketing Director I (Nusantara, Oceania, Australia and ASEAN) Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) inaugurated the Bottom Glass Ship directly at the Katang Lingga Island Pier, on Friday (9/10).

“There are 2 Bottom Glass Ships that were inaugurated today, as a sign of Kemenparekraf support for Katang Lingga Island. Because for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the presence of Katang Lingga Island will certainly present the potential for high-end foreign tourists to come to the Riau Islands and even more so as a high-class tourist destination, we hope that foreign tourists are also interested in spending their time here. And the concept that is trying to develop, in my opinion, will be a special attraction for Katang Lingga Island, because Katang Lingga Island is currently planning to build something that is global and personal, so that it is on the right track,” said VJ as he is familiarly called.
